Statement
Every action performed is significant. Every mark made has a uniqueness and sacredness. In a sea of similar forms or objects, each one is relevant in having a subtle individuality and importance, adding strength to its surrounding counterparts. I am interested in this strength in numbers, and how all the components of a system interact with one another. Each object or mark must be made over and over until my interest dissipates. Though I work with multiplicity, each individual object I make is precious and sacred to me, all having their own unique personalities. In reflecting on this idea of personification of object, my work, which has always kept natural processes in mind, has shifted toward referencing living beings, ranging from plant life to the human form. Utilizing this imagery of the natural world, I explore empathy and intimacy toward the inanimate object.
